What we believe

We write from a Protestant point of view, evangelical and nondenominational, and we stand on the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds. We name Jesus plainly, and we speak of the cross and the resurrection where the passage does.

Christians disagree on many secondary questions. Where they do, we say so and set out the main views fairly instead of taking sides. Catholic and Orthodox Christians, and anyone simply curious, are welcome here.

How we write

• Scripture first. The Bible’s words come first, exactly as written, before any words of ours.
• Our words are separate. Quotations from the Bible are always marked as Scripture. Meanings, prayers and retellings are ours, and we never put words in God’s mouth.
• Short and warm. We write like a friend who knows the Bible, for people with full days. No politics, no promises of healing or money.
• Checked. Every quotation is checked word for word against the publisher’s text. Pages are reviewed for accuracy, theology, tone and safety before they are published, and dated when they change.

What an app can’t do

An app can help you begin a reading or find words for a prayer. It can’t know you the way a friend, a pastor or a church can. Bring hard questions to people you trust. If grief, anxiety, illness or sleeplessness is weighing on your daily life, please talk to a doctor or counsellor too; prayer and good care belong together.
