Prayer
Night prayer
A short prayer to hand the day back to God and rest.

I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8
A night prayer ends the day with God: thank him for what was good, be honest about what went wrong, leave what is unfinished in his hands, and rest. Psalm 4:8 is the classic bedtime verse: “I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.”
Pray
Lord, the day is done. Thank you for every good thing in it, the ones I noticed and the ones I missed.
Where I was impatient or unkind, forgive me. Where someone hurt me, help me carry it to you, and show me the wise next step. What I didn’t finish, I leave with you.
You do not sleep, so I can. Watch over the people I love tonight. I will lie down in peace, because you keep me safe. Amen.
A two-minute look back
- Thank. Name one good thing from today.
- Notice. Where did you feel close to God, or far from him?
- Forgive and be forgiven. Say sorry for one thing, and let go of one thing.
- Rest. Pray Psalm 4:8 and turn off the light.
