Skies
Privacy Policy

Effective date: 24 November 2026
Skies is a Bible and prayer app for iPhone, operated by Mahina Labs, LLC, a Florida company. This policy explains what we receive, why we use it and your choices. Contact support@mahinalabs.com.
The short version
- There is no account or sign-in. Your saved app records are kept on your phone.
- Online Chat sends your message and limited recent conversation history through Cloudflare to OpenAI after you give permission. Pray for me prepares its prayer on your phone.
- Usage sharing is optional. Apple handles subscription payments.
- We do not sell personal information, show ads, use advertising IDs or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
- Skies is for people 13 and older. You can stop online Chat and usage sharing in Settings > Privacy & data.
1. Records on your phone
The app stores your optional profile name, age band, preferences, reminder settings, reading position, Bible version, saved verses and prayers, notes, highlights and practice history on your phone. It stores an age band, not your birth date. Completed Chat answers and your questions are saved automatically in History. Reports recorded with “Record report locally” stay on your phone; to send a report to us, email support@mahinalabs.com.
The app also keeps local usage records and random identifiers for Chat limits and optional usage sharing. Sections 2 and 4 explain when those identifiers and other records leave your phone. Chat history can be sent again when you continue a conversation, including a saved conversation.
Reminders are scheduled on your phone. We do not collect a remote push-notification token. Downloaded narration is stored on your phone.
Export and delete. In Settings > Privacy & data, Export my data creates a copy of saved database records and Bible preferences, including any stored Chat and usage identifiers. It does not include downloaded audio. Delete all data clears those records and resets preferences, including your age answer and Chat permission, when the operation completes. If it cannot finish, the app shows an error; retry or contact us. Close and reopen the app after deletion to clear information still displayed on screen. Remove downloaded audio separately in Settings > Reading & listening > Downloads.
These controls do not remove exported or shared copies, device backups or information already sent to providers. Backups and any shared widget storage may retain information separately from the app’s saved records. Section 9 explains requests about information held by us or our providers. Deleting app data does not cancel an Apple subscription.
2. Online Chat
What is sent. Online Chat sends your current message and up to four recent completed exchanges from the same chat through our Cloudflare server to OpenAI. This includes your earlier messages and AI answers, even when you resume a saved chat. Earlier messages and answers are shortened, and older exchanges may be omitted; the earlier history sent with a request is limited to 6,000 characters.
Requests can also include your chosen Bible version, related Bible passages and source material, generated answers, automatic-check feedback, whether Chat actions are allowed, and safety signals such as signs of distress or whether this chat previously showed a crisis response. These help select sources, understand follow-ups, produce and check answers, and apply safety controls. A “Help me pray about this” follow-up can include a passage reference from the previous answer. The app does not attach your profile name or age band to Chat requests. Anything you write can reveal personal information, including religious beliefs or health details, so avoid names, addresses and other identifying details. A message that is too long can reach our server before it is rejected.
Pray for me and guided prayers prepare their text on your phone; they do not send your prayer request to OpenAI. A prayer requested through online Chat follows the Chat rules above.
Your permission. Before online Chat sends a message, the app asks separately for permission to process the described information and to share it with Cloudflare and OpenAI. You can refuse or turn off Allow online Chat in Settings > Privacy & data. This stops future sends without deleting saved items. It does not recall information already sent. Local Bible and prayer features remain available.
Daily limits. Chat may pause after about 100 messages per app installation in a calendar day of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, which may differ from your local time), on free and paid plans alike. This fair-use limit resets at midnight UTC and is separate from the daily Chat allowance, which resets at local midnight. Counts may be approximate. A question normally counts as one message, and a rewrite of the same question can add part of a message. Crisis messages detected by the safety check bypass this daily limit.
Online answer requests carry a random Chat ID created on your phone for this limit. It is separate from the usage-sharing ID and is not sent to OpenAI or included in usage uploads. For the daily check, our server may keep a code made from the Chat ID and UTC date using a secret key, together with the day’s count, in Cloudflare’s storage service, Workers KV. The code changes daily. Each record is set to expire 26 hours after that UTC day began, two hours after it ends; later messages do not extend that time. The record contains no message text, profile name, age band or account. Our Chat application does not store the original Chat ID. Completing Delete all data removes the phone’s copy.
Crisis messages. When the on-device safety check detects a crisis, it shows help on your phone instead of sending that request to OpenAI. It can miss a crisis, so an undetected message may follow the normal Chat route. Later messages may include recent conversation history and safety signals as described above. No one monitors Chat to respond to emergencies. If you are in danger, call 911; in the US, you can also call or text 988.
Cloudflare. Our Chat server forwards messages without keeping a conversation database or writing message text to application logs. It emits limited operational events, such as a daily-limit pause or an answer-check outcome, without message text, Chat IDs, daily codes or IP addresses. Workers Logs is disabled for the Chat server. Cloudflare still receives your IP address and other network information to deliver and protect the service. The Chat server also uses a limit of 20 requests per minute per IP address; a question can require more than one request. This window does not limit how long Cloudflare keeps network or security records.
Cloudflare may retain network, security and service records for as long as its applicable terms allow to operate and protect its services and meet legal obligations. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.
OpenAI. OpenAI processes Chat information to provide the service and for safety and legal compliance. Its published API policy excludes model training by default, unless the API customer opts in to share data. Abuse-monitoring logs may include messages, answers and derived metadata. These logs are generally kept for up to 30 days, with longer retention where required by law or reasonably needed to protect OpenAI’s services or others from harm. Temporary feature-dependent caches may also apply. Online Chat is not offered as a zero-retention service, and we do not promise deletion of every copy on day 30. See OpenAI’s API data controls at https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/your-data.
OpenAI allows limited access by authorized staff for support, abuse investigations and legal compliance, and by specialized contractors for abuse review under confidentiality and security obligations. See OpenAI’s business-data privacy information at https://openai.com/enterprise-privacy/.
3. Apple purchases
Subscriptions are purchased through Apple’s App Store. Apple handles checkout and billing; we do not receive your payment-card details from that checkout. The app uses subscription and transaction information from Apple’s purchase system to determine access to Skies Premium and support purchases. Apple handles your App Store account and payment information under Apple’s Privacy Policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
4. Optional usage sharing
If you turn on Share usage data, the app can upload selected events to our Cloudflare analytics service. They include a random installation ID, age band, app version, event names and times, fixed details such as reading or listening, and a group used to compare versions of app features. These records let us recognize events from the same installation; they are not anonymous. We use them to understand and improve the app.
Usage uploads do not include the text of chats, prayers or notes. Events identifying a crisis or a sleep-or-worry session choice are excluded from uploads. Cloudflare receives network information when an upload is sent, but our usage database does not store your IP address.
Sharing is off until you turn it on. Only people whose saved age band is 13 or older can upload. Turning it off stops future uploads and clears the unsent queue; a request already sent cannot be recalled. Earlier local history is not uploaded when you opt in. Turning sharing off also attempts to request deletion of uploaded records, but switching it off alone does not guarantee that those records have been erased. Email us to request or confirm deletion.
Uploaded usage records and reports derived from them may remain until deleted; we do not promise a fixed automatic expiry. Section 9 explains how to request access or deletion.
5. Crash reports
This release does not send crash reports to Sentry. Before enabling a separate crash-reporting service, we will explain what it receives, how it is kept and your choices, and obtain permission where required.
6. Website, audio, email and sharing
Website and audio. Cloudflare receives your IP address, requested address and other technical request information when delivering our website and recordings. A requested address can reveal the page or recording you chose. Website request logs may be kept for up to seven days under Cloudflare’s Workers Logs service. Separate network and security records follow the retention criteria in section 2. See Cloudflare’s Workers Logs documentation at https://developers.cloudflare.com/workers/observability/logs/workers-logs/.
Email. Google Workspace handles messages sent to support@mahinalabs.com, including your address, message and anything you attach. We use support messages to reply, investigate problems and handle privacy requests. Support messages may remain until deleted; we do not promise a fixed automatic expiry. You can ask us to delete them, subject to any legal duty to keep them. Reports saved only on your phone are not emailed automatically.
Sharing and dictation. When you share an item, your phone sends it to the app or person you choose. We do not receive the outgoing shared copy through that feature. If you use keyboard dictation, Apple handles it under its own terms and privacy policy. The iPhone app does not record your voice.
7. Recipients and other disclosures
OpenAI handles online AI requests; Cloudflare handles hosting, delivery, usage data and security; Apple handles App Store purchases; and Google Workspace handles support email. Providers may use subcontractors and process information for their own security, legal or platform purposes under their terms. Hosting-account administrators may also have access to service records. We require third parties that receive personal information from the app, including service providers and any related companies with access, to provide protection equivalent to this Privacy Policy and Apple’s applicable privacy requirements.
We may disclose information when legally required, to protect someone’s safety, or in a merger or sale of our business. This policy continues to apply to information transferred in a business transaction.
We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (advertising based on activity across different companies’ services) or use it for targeted advertising. We do not use advertising IDs or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
8. Children, teens and parents
Skies is intended for people 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. Before online Chat, the app asks for an age band when needed. A saved under-13 answer blocks online Chat and usage uploads.
If you are 13 to 17, or otherwise a minor where you live, a parent or legal guardian must give permission before you use online Chat. The app asks teens to confirm that permission after explaining what is sent. Local Bible and prayer features remain available without online Chat.
If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, email support@mahinalabs.com so we can investigate and take appropriate deletion steps.
9. Your choices and rights
Anyone in the US can email support@mahinalabs.com with “Privacy request” to ask us to confirm what we hold, provide a copy and recipient information, correct or delete information, or withdraw consent. There is no charge for this request process. You can also use the export, deletion and sharing controls described above.
Finding your records. We have no user accounts or server conversation database. The local export includes any stored usage ID and Chat ID. We will explain the limited information needed to locate records and verify your request, including a request by an authorized agent. Do not send your full export, chats or prayers unless we specifically explain why a limited part is needed. Support messages can be located by your email address. Daily Chat-limit records may already have expired by the time you contact us.
Deleting local records does not delete provider copies. We will assess your request and coordinate deletion with providers where the law requires it, including applicable backup deadlines. We will explain any exception or records we cannot identify; no-account use does not remove your rights. OpenAI’s ordinary retention period is not a substitute for a deletion request.
Timing and appeals. We respond within the time the law requires and aim to respond within 45 days. If a permitted extension is needed, we explain why within the initial response period. You may appeal a refusal by replying “Appeal.” We respond in writing within 45 days after receiving your appeal, explain our decision, and provide the relevant attorney general’s complaint route if we deny it, including an online route where required. We do not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights. The separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy explains health-data deadlines, including Nevada’s shorter deletion deadline.
California and other states. We offer this process throughout the US. Statutory rights depend on the law and its coverage. Our no-sale, no-advertising-sharing practice does not change when a browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Contact us to exercise any additional rights concerning sensitive information, including religious beliefs or health. Nothing here limits rights provided by law.
10. Consumer health data
Messages, AI responses and information connected with requests may reveal physical or mental health. Our separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy at https://skiesbible.com/consumer-health-privacy/ explains categories, sources, purposes, recipients and Washington and Nevada rights. It is also available in Settings > Privacy & data.
11. Security and location
Online Chat uses HTTPS, and the OpenAI provider key stays on our server. No security method is perfect. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as required by law.
Skies is offered through the US App Store only at launch. Our providers may process information in the US and elsewhere on their networks.
12. Changes and contact
We will post updates with a new effective date. For material changes, we will display a notice in the app and on our website before the change takes effect. Before materially changing processing that depends on consent, we will explain the change and ask again where required.
