Prayer
A prayer for strength
For when you are tired, overwhelmed, or facing something you can’t do on your own.

He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:29–31
Isaiah 40 promises that God “gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak,” and that those who wait on the LORD “will renew their strength” (Isaiah 40:29–31). A prayer for strength admits you have run out, and asks God for the strength to take the next step.
Pray
God, I am tired, and this is more than I can carry. You give power to the faint. I am faint, so I am asking.
Give me strength for today, not for the whole road, just for the next step. Where I feel weak, let your strength be enough. Send people to help me, and help me to let them.
I wait on you, Lord. Renew my strength. Amen.
Strength in weakness
Paul begged God three times to take away a painful weakness, and heard: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Asking for strength is not pretending to be strong. It is bringing your weakness to the one who is.
Scripture behind this prayer
But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble.
Psalm 46:1
